Got a hankering to sing and dance? Join the Sunshine Coast Show Choir!
A Show Choir is a performance group combining choral singing with choreographed movement or dance, sometimes adding a thematic element to the show.
Led by Choir Director Jen, you’ll learn and perform songs from all sorts of genres such as rock, pop, jazz, musical theatre, soul, disco, country, and more!
As a group, we rehearse once a week (Tuesday evenings), and you’ll also get the opportunity to perform in a number of shows and concerts throughout the year.
Our group is very social and supportive, and it’s a great way to let your hair down and have a little fun.
How It Works.
Currently, the Sunshine Coast Show Choir has around 30 members in its ensemble, and we’re actively welcoming new auditions now for the 2024 Jan - Jun Season.
We run two semesters (or ‘seasons’) a year. Membership is $275 per semester, and includes access to our full rehearsal platform which features choreography videos, vocal part recordings, sheet music, tips and tricks, performance calendar and much more.
The audition comprises three easy steps. It may look a little daunting, but just remember, we’re all here to learn and have fun!
Vocal Audition (via Zoom)
Book in a 10 minute Zoom meeting with Choir Director Jen via the link HERE. Prepare a one minute acapella (no instrument backing) song of your choice to perform in your audition. Jen may also conduct a brief vocal range test, and ask a few musical background questions.
Dance Tutorial (Video)
We’ll send you a brief dance routine video via YouTube, along with a dance / movement tutorial. Practice the routine as much as you like within a 24 hour period, film yourself doing it and email to Jen at sunshinecoastshowchoir@gmail.com.
Attend our first rehearsal
Come to a rehearsal and make sure you found your tribe and let us see how you fit!
The Director's decision will be made immediately after the first rehearsal and is final.
